چکیده

Various physics observables can be determined from the localisation of distinct edge-like features in distributions measurement values. In this paper, we address observation that neither differentiating nor fitting measured is robust against significant fluctuations experimental data. We propose application Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters instead. To demonstrate method, consider typical case particle which precise kinematic edges, often blurred by e.g.\ background contributions and detector effects, crucial for determining masses. show even binned data, high energy physics, optimal FIR filter kernel approximated {\em first derivative a Gaussian} (FDOG). study two highly complementary supersymmetric scenarios that, if realised nature, could observed at future high-energy $e^+e^-$ collider such as International Linear Collider (ILC) or Compact (CLIC). The scenario considers production $\tilde{e}^{\pm}-$pairs while second focuses on $\tilde{\chi}^{\pm}_{1}$ $\tilde{\chi}^{0}_{2}$-pair production. method edge extraction superior to previously employed methods terms robustness precision.

On Kalman-Like Finite Impulse Response Filters

Lubin Chang, Member, IEEE Naval University of Engineering, Wuhan, China (e-mail:[email protected]) Abstract—This note reveals an explicit relationship between two representative finite impulse response (FIR) filters, i.e. the newly derived and popularized Kalman-Like unbiased FIR filter (UFIR) and the receding horizon Kalman FIR filter (RHKF). It is pointed out that the only difference of the ...

Sharpening Minimum-Phase Interpolated Finite Impulse Response Filters

This paper presents a novel simple method for the direct design of low-pass minimum-phase (MP) filters. The method is based on a linear-phase (LP) finite impulse response (FIR) prototype, sharpening and IFIR (interpolated finite impulse response) techniques, usually used for the design of LP filters. As a result, a more complex minimum phase filter can be designed by using less complex filters....

Parallelizing Infinite Impulse Response Filters

In this paper, we present a parallel algorithm for edge detection based on Infinite Impulse Response filter (IIR filter). In particular, the Infinite size Symmetric Exponential Filter (ISEF) that is an optimal IIR filter and computationally efficient smoothing filter is studied. The proposed algorithm exploits efficiently all aspects of potential parallelism (spatial parallelism, temporal paral...
